In 2009, at the age of 21, Adam Walker was appointed principal flute of the London Symphony Orchestra and received the Outstanding Young Artist Award at MIDEM Classique in Cannes.
In 2009, at the age of 21, Adam Walker was appointed principal flute of the London Symphony Orchestra and received the Outstanding Young Artist Award at MIDEM Classique in Cannes. In 2010 he won a Borletti- Buitoni Trust Fellowship Award and was shortlisted for the Royal Philharmonic Society Outstanding Young Artist Award. As a concerto soloist, Adam regularly performs with the major UK orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony, Hallé, Bournemouth Symphony and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Elsewhere he has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Grant Park Festival, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Mexico, Seoul Philharmonic, Auckland Philharmonia, Malaysian Philharmonic, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Solistes Européens, Luxembourg and the RTE National Symphony Orchestra. A champion of new music, Adam has given world premieres of concerti by Huw Watkins with the London Symphony Orchestra and Daniel Harding, Brett Dean with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Thierry Fischer, and Kevin Puts at the Cabrillo Festival and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Marin Alsop. A committed chamber musician, Adam regularly appears at chamber music festivals including Delft, Moritzburg, Utrecht, West Cork, and regulary appears at The Wigmore Hall where he has recently collaborated with Tabea Zimmermann, Cedric Tiberghien, Bernada Fink, and many others. The 2018/19 season sees Adam take up his place on the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s prestigious “CMS Two” programme. Other highlights this season include four appearances at Wigmore Hall, his recital debuts at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie and Frankfurt Alte Oper, whilst other highlights include the Musée du Louvre and ‘Musica Viva’ festival in Sydney. Adam is Professor of Flute at the Royal College of Music London, and ‘Talent Music Masters’ in Brescia.
